Why Accredited PMU Training Matters in the UK
Learn how to verify PMU course accreditation, qualification status, insurer acceptance and local licensing requirements before you enrol.

Accredited PMU training can provide useful independent scrutiny of a course, but the value depends on the exact accrediting organisation, approval scope, assessment and insurer acceptance. A logo on a sales page is not enough. Prospective students should verify the course itself and understand the difference between course accreditation and a regulated qualification.
What course accreditation can show
Accreditation may indicate that an external organisation has reviewed specified course material or delivery arrangements against its standards. It does not automatically mean that the course is an Ofqual-regulated qualification, accepted by every insurer or sufficient for every council area and PMU treatment.
Ask to see the provider's current listing on the accreditor's own website. Check that the listing names the same provider, delivery method and course you plan to take. How to check a regulated qualification
Ofqual regulates awarding organisations and qualifications in England. The official Register of Regulated Qualifications lets you verify the qualification title, level, awarding organisation and qualification number. Do not assume that an accredited short course is a regulated qualification unless the register and awarding organisation support that description.
Insurance, licensing and professional practice
Training is one part of professional readiness. Ask your intended insurer to confirm the exact certificate and treatments it will accept. Check personal and premises registration with your local council using the GOV.UK licensing finder. Requirements can vary by jurisdiction, insurer and treatment.
A robust course should also make its practical assessment, supervised model work, infection-control teaching, trainer competence, complaints route and resit policy clear. Those details often matter more than broad claims such as “recognised everywhere” or “insurance ready”.
